It allows for a huge amount of creativity: rather than being locked into class roles, you allocate skills however you want, creating your own builds and classes. Polymorph/Warfare alone(maybe with two points in Huntsman for Tactical Retreat and First Aid) are a wonderful combo though, I can confirm it works solidly and two handing helps the build because many War skills go off weapon attack on top of your strength and apply your sword's on-hit effects. Divinity: Original Sin 2 builds are key to a succesful adventure, and thankfully the game’s character system is one of the most versatile out there. On top of that, every point you put in necro would be better invested in another skill by that point. I find Necro a good option for a caster so they can deal both physical and magic damage stacking intelligence only. Necro would not benefit you in a Polymorph and Warfare build in my opinion because enemies can decay you and the necro skills migh tdeal physical damage but stack with Intelligence, not Strength, while Poly and War skills stack with Strength. Warfare is also good to give you mobility and knockbacks. To help the Godwoken fight their way through Voidwoken and Magisters alike, this guide has been updated to include more detail on the skills and equipment necessary for the best Fane builds.Originally posted by Toadally Awesome:Polymorph is good for having a toolkit to disable enemies, atrophy, petrifies etc are all there. Like any character, players can choose any role they like for Fane, but some fit him better than others. In the meantime, though, he still has a role to play in combat. Though somewhat lacking in the social graces, his story and the doings of his past had a great impact on the game's world, and taking him along leads to vital story revelations.

Updated Octoby Demaris Oxman: For those first starting Divinity: Original Sin 2, it's essential to travel with Fane in the party. Here are some of the better builds players should try out on Fane. These can be combined with a number of interesting builds that really expand upon his talents and make him a strong character. As a result, having him on the player’s team makes for a more engaging experience. He’s the only undead option among the origin characters, and has a deep connection to the story and the lore of the world. And if so, maybe pick up 1 in Geo for Corrosive Touch and armor buffs. Wand and shield for Shield Toss, maybe a 1H melee weapon if you're going with the Close Combat role, but wands typically have better bonuses for INT and such. Fane is arguably one of the most interesting characters in Divinity: Original Sin 2. High INT, High Warfare, 2 in Necro for spells, third point later for top tier spells.
